
Study Supports the Use of Repetitive TMS for Treatment Resistant Depression
A study in France has found that 1 in 4 individuals may achieve remission for treatment resistant depression with repetitive TMS.
The Stanford Accelerated Intelligent Neuromodulation Therapy (SAINT) Neuromodulation System to treat major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults who have failed to achieve adequate improvements with antidepressant medications. The treatment consists of 10 daily sessions over the course of 5 days (50 treatments total). The location of the stimulation is based on individualized fMRI with neuronavigational targeting equipment. Even though this protocol has FDA clearance, most insurances do not yet offer coverage for this type of treatment.
