QEEG Brain Mapping Q&A
What is QEEG Brain Mapping?
QEEG Brain Mapping (Quantitative Electroencephalography Brain Mapping) is a technique that measures electrical activity in your brain (using EEG) and then processes that data through software to create a detailed visual map of how your brain is functioning.
How does QEEG Brain Mapping work?
- EEG electrodes are placed on your scalp to record your brain’s electrical signals.
- The raw EEG data is analyzed statistically and compared to a database of “normal” brain activity for specific age groups.
- The result is a brain map; colorful images that show areas of the brain that may be overactive, underactive, or out of balance
- The process is non-invasive, and a typical session takes about 45 minutes to an hour to complete.
Who can benefit from QEEG Brain Mapping?
Dr. Suzuki is a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist and a Harvard-trained TMS specialist. She determines if you, your child, or teen benefits from QEEG after a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation.
